Tao Ma – radical industrial designer

Tao Ma Meet Tao Ma – my new favourite industrial designer du jour. Via physOrg comes his latest radical new design for a mobile phone:

LED phone

There is no display or a touch screen. Only LEDs all around. The LED patterns will govern you to the necessary functions like SMS, contacts, and one can even enjoy games on it.

I can’t wait to see a demo video of this crazy phone.

Check out some of his concept work from last year. The bracelet mobile-phone/mp3-player:

braclet phone

When this bracelet phone receives any message, it starts vibrating and making or receiving a phone call is just too easy. To read the message, take the bracelet out of your wrist and press the diamond-like keystroke.

And this neato Roll Phone:

roll phone

You can put it anywhere on your body like pocket on your sleeve, hang on the key ring, hang on the neck, or hang on wrist, anywhere you want because its light weight and minuscule size.

Why one of the big phone multi-nationals aren’t instantiating this guy’s designs is beyond me.

  1. [...] So I saw this fancy new futurephone via Whitechapel the other week. I glanced at it and thought it looked cool enough, but it’s seemed like yet another concept phone. [...]
