Iron Man – grinder movie of the year?
I figure if the Steampunk kids can spend all last year waiting to see The Golden Compass, we should get a film to drool over as well.
So, have you seen the new Iron Man trailer yet?
That last minute is pure crazy science in the basement action! Who doesn’t wanna watch with envy as a millionaire grinds away on himself?
Or is there something even better out there I’m missing?

Really, we can do better than an alcoholic wife-beating fascist.
ok, i’ll bite.
such as?
Not to nitpick, but Tony Stark’s only recently a fascist.
That was a development of ideals that is not necessarily going to be carried over into the movie (isn’t in the Ultimate Universe).
His alcoholism is integral to character development, and evolution (especially in the ultimate universe).
Wife-beating?
“Wife-beating?”
Yeah, B seems to be confusing Tony Stark with Hank Pym. :|
And really, from what I read of Civil War, the only writers who really went “diobolical supervillian” with Iron Man was Millar, JMS, and Jenkins, the rest, espicially Bendis, had him much more human and guilt-ridden over what he feels he has to do.
The trailer looks fantastic. When I first heard they were going to do a movie, I just rolled my eyes. I didn’t think they could do it right. So far, I’m impressed by what I’ve seen.
Tony Stark: Grinder-boy; yes indeed.
Justifiactions–
A fascist:
He supported the Vietnam War, Stark Industries is a defense contractor… my politics may be showing…
A wife-beater:
Tony hasn’t had the smoothest love-life, what with the long period of time he spent paralyzed from the waist down outside the suit and the alcoholism.
Better than Iron Man?
Not to get my nose too brown, but any of Ellis’ creations… as far as being a Grinder goes, Dr. Sleepless is obviously at the tippy-top of the list…
Really, when he takes off the suit, he is just some schmuck.
Now, if he’d built the suit out of his own stem cells and stitched it on… that would be different.

[...] Not too much longer now, until we all get to see the Grinder movie of the Year. [...]
[...] So I figure it’s a fair bet most of us are off to see Iron Man this weekend. So why not have a little discussion post to talk about what I have already called the Grinder Movie of the Year. [...]
“He supported the Vietnam War, Stark Industries is a defense contractor… my politics may be showing…”
Sure he supplied weapons, but he realizes his error and that’s why he becomes Iron Man.
“Tony hasn’t had the smoothest love-life, what with the long period of time he spent paralyzed from the waist down outside the suit and the alcoholism.”
…But there’s no evidence in what you said with him being a wife-beater. Unless he’s physically struck his spouse (which I’m certain he never actually had), then he’s not a wife-beater.
“Really, when he takes off the suit, he is just some schmuck.”
For someone who got their “nose too brown” for our Internet Jesus’ previous work, you seemed to have forgotten about the Extremis arc.
