Purity: Calabi-Yau
Sometimes I get a little tired of the daily grind, and I want something elevating. Today I stopped by at Visualization, a great little place with some neat mathematical graphical representations, like this Calabi-Yau animation:

String Theory predicts the existence of more than the 3 space dimensions and 1 time dimension we are all familiar with. According to string theory, there are additional dimensions that we are unfamiliar with because they are curled up into tiny complicated shapes that can only be seen on tiny scales. If we could shrink to this tiny, Planck-sized scale we could see that at every 3D point in space, we can also explore 6 additional dimensions. This animation shows a Calabi-Yau surface which is a projection of these higher dimensions into the more familiar dimensions we are aware of.
If you’d like some more higher math (and I know it isn’t top of everyone’s to do list) Imaging the Tenth Dimension is a blog written in a pretty accessible style which, as a bonus, has a bit of musing about the 4D nature of spimes in the post for 2 March (Hypercubes & Plato’s Cave).

The universe is a beautiful thing, isn’t it?
Hello …. Question: Could I have been experiencing a Calabi-Yau ?? Please read.
On April 30, 1976 I wrote the following in my journal: “This was the first day that I received “the lights”. “The lights” appeared to me suddenly, making me so dizzy and nauseated that I finally laid down on my meditation mat in order to try to follow their utter strangeness.
They began with a shimmering, flashing brightness in the outer periphery of my left eye. They were more than distracting. They were agitating and were making me feel nauseated, as if I were “reeling”. I could see them with my eyes open or closed but I couldn’t focus on them directly. As I looked towards them, they would move…staying on the perphery of my vision. But as i strained to examine them, it was clear that they were shaped like elongated triangles and rectangles…. And looked like slivers of brilliant, shimmering, pulsating (blue, red, yellow, white light) glass … arched in a semicircle arrangement high above the central focus of my eye.
The intensity of the glittering glass pieces and my concentration to see them correctly made me weak. I went to my meditation mat and laid down flat on my back. There I continued to look at the glass pieces and realized they were beginning to change(or to move). The “scene” became a deep dark background of varying degrees, with a couple geometric shapes placed on the screen, like: [and here I tried to draw the geometric figures I was experiencing]
There were different degrees of darkness and the shapes were arranged in such a way that I realized that I was seeing a dimension I’d never seen before. Time became oddly suspended– there was a vacuum of reality (of the physical plane) — I was traveling through these figures with no motion … deep … things in front of me changing.
Came out — feeling very odd”

Addendum:
All representations of the cabali-yau that i have ever seen look just like what the geometric figures I saw and actually moved into and through looked like.
Could anyone share similiar experiences with me ??
Hey, nice to see a Calabi-Yau animation! Thanks for your kind words about Imagining the Tenth Dimension. It’s been fascinating watching people’s reactions to this. Some people call it mind-blowing, while some people don’t get what I’m trying to do: there are a number of different schools of thought creatively blended together in my project. If you type tenth dimension faq into google you’ll find a blog entry linking to the many tangents I am exploring.
I have posted a link to your blog entry in my Interesting Links section at the tenth dimension blog.
Thanks!

wow this is great, i really need to know more about this. i have made 4 different theorys on string theory. but the fact of other forms of unlimeted relmes at that astonish me.
