Siftables: a hands-on user-interface solution

Here’s another great attempt to free us from the mouse/monitor method for interacting with computers, Siftables from MIT Media Lab’s David Merrill:

As an interaction platform, Siftables applies technology and methodology from wireless sensor networks to tangible user interfaces. Siftables are independent, compact devices with sensing, graphical display, and wireless communication capabilities.

Siftables

I like it. A simple way to literally shuffle around different solutions to problems. It would also allow multiple people to contribute, without having to fight for the mouse!

Probably the best use for this though would be as a way for kids to learn basic programming.

thanks for the tip-off Shaun Burke!
