QRCoded Homeless Tent

I have been in Japan for two weeks now, and I am struggling to get a proper handle on this place.

This photo of a homeless camp tent, taken by Cory Doctorow, comes a long way to summing up the contradictions of this place.

  1. I used to see reasonably well built homes – walls, roof, door, tv antennae, and working windows 1/2 height high at Hakata Station – “owned” on unused land… They moved some of these south of the station onto a park between office buildings. Odd stuff, tent belonging to person above must be new.
