Walking Power Plant
From dvice.com:
Moving one step towards a greener future, literally, Japanese telecom giant NTT Docomo has unveiled a prototype shoe that generates enough energy to perpetually power a portable music player. The shoe has a small generator attached to water filled soles that generate power with every step. The company claims the shoes currently generate about 1.2 watts of energy, but their hope is to get the energy level to 3 watts in order to power cell phones. Despite how futuristic the shoes sound, Docomo intends to release a commercial version of the product as soon as 2010.
Concept is excellent, design needs to be refined.

Implementation needs to be reversed: under the sidewalk, retaining energy with Every Step.
Combine this with the wireless power concept currently being worked on, so your phone or music player doesn’t even need to be plugged in to get powered up. Turn every person into a walking energy broadcaster.
