Here's hoping that the early adopters are able to develop spam-blockers and filters to keep it under control. I sure hope AR doesn’t just become an immersive world of spam. Here’s hoping that the early adopters are able to develop spam-blockers and filters to keep it under control.

Because there’s plenty of potential for cool locative art (see Gibson’s Spook Country) and other such interesting ideas in the AR future.

AR is going to be subsidized by advertising. There's going to be almost no way around it save for advanced ad-blocking software which the cell carriers are going to fight against vigorously. We'll be subject of links to things like the site of the manufacturers of his shirt, suit, tie... the rim's of the other man's glasses. Stores where you can buy these things should you want them. The aroma of their cologne might even be sensed and processed. Cell phones are on a developing path into a device like Star Trek's Tricorder, but even more diverse than Gene Rodenberry and subsequent genre writers could imagine. Hmmm... sorry. I went on a rant.
