The Facebook Tomorrow
At this year’s DICE 2010 Expo, Carnegie Mellon’s Jesse Schell gave a fantastic presentation that starts with why Facebook *shouldn’t* work in the way that it does and extrapolates forward into a half-creepy and half-inspiring vision for the embodied internet, the network of things, the culture of games and the SPIMEworld to come.

So funny, the redundant “game design conference talk” where Some game-developmentally-delayed functionary of a megapublisher evangelizes the latest craze, at least a year too late.
I imagine this same moron gave an enthusiastic speech on how to make an iPhone app last year, the year before maybe how to rip off WOW, the year before that maybe a Wii game, before that how to reverse engineer the appeal of Bejewelled, and so on…
No one’s thinking of new psychological tricks to snare people into things? I’m pretty sure this is ALL decent advert designers do.
@PF I won’t deny that he’s not predicting the future, so much as describing the weather, but given the overwhelming reaction to this talk, apparently the weather is still a mystery to most.

Reminds me of plane spotters during world war two who were supplied with packs of playing cards with pictures of different enemy planes on the backs.
Ugh, forgot to include the bit that explains its an teaching addon for Office and not a seperate game…
